Roborock S7 MaxV Ultra – Review of the Best Robot Vacuum Cleaner

By | 29.08.2023

Roborock S7 MaxV Ultra is currently the most advanced robotic vacuum cleaner on the market. It has everything that’s missing in other vacuum cleaners and much more. In addition, the robot comes with a charging station with a series of innovative features.

Simply put, Roborock S7 MaxV Ultra is your best choice if you’re interested in buying a robot vacuum cleaner that can do pretty much everything. It doesn’t have too many competitors either, with some users claiming there’s none at all due to its advanced functionality.

What Roborock S7 MaxV Ultra can do

Unlike other vacuum cleaners, Roborock S7 MaxV Ultra is well oriented in space and can perfectly recognize objects and obstacles on the floor in both good and low lighting conditions due to a small LED backlight under the camera.

In addition to dry cleaning, it can also offer wet cleaning applications, everything at the highest quality standards. Talking about quality, it won’t just clean hard floors, but also rugs and carpets. When moving on carpets, it lifts the mop in order to leave them clean and dry. In addition, it’s extremely powerful and can overcome thresholds up to 2cm high. However, it seems to be “afraid” of black floors, but that’s a common issue with most robot vacuum cleaners.

The charging station allows the robot to charge the battery, but also empty the container and rinse the mop for wet cleaning in an automatic manner. Furthermore, it can drain dirty water and replenish the tank with clean water, which it needs for the mop during wet cleaning.

Developers decided to have a bit of fun and introduced the so-called Cupid mode too. Turn it on and Roborock S7 MaxV Ultra will move towards other robot vacuum cleaners when detected, only to give them a quick kiss.

Base station

The station measures 422x504x420 mm, yet the water tanks and lid over the package will add to its height. The station has three tanks: a 2.5 liter dirty water tank, a 3 liter clean water tank and a 2.5 liter tank with a garbage bag for self-cleaning.

As mentioned above, apart from recharging, the station is a stopping point to refill the tank with water before draining the dirty one. Tanks cannot be connected to water supply and sewerage lines, which would’ve taken automation and maintenance to another level. To solve the issue, the manufacturer has developed a module where a tank for clean and dirty water is connected through well engineered networks. Therefore, clean water is automatically supplied to the vacuum cleaner, while dirty water is pumped out by the pump built into the module.

There’s also a special silver module for water disinfection for the station. On the platform, in addition to contacts for charging and a filter for water purification, there’s a brush that cleans the mop. The station itself does not have a mop drying function though, but this drawback is eliminated by a special Roborock Dryer Module, which can be purchased separately. It’s worth noting a useful feature that displays details about the consumables and how long they have until they need replacement.

Roborock Dryer Module

This module is worth some separate attention. Owners will realize there’s no such thing as a mop drying function after buying the Roborock S7 MaxV Ultra. Manufacturers have tackled this demand by releasing a special Roborock Dryer Module. The module is attached to the station and can be controlled through the phone. Using the application, you can select the drying time – 2 hours, 3 hours, or 4 hours. Update the Roborock firmware and you’ll also be able to turn on the automatic mode, where the Roborock Dryer Module will determine whether the mop is wet or not before deciding on drying. At a maximum drying temperature of 45 degrees and 3160 rpm, the mop dries within 2-4 hours.

Cleaning

Roborock S7 MaxV Ultra cleaning options can be configured in the smallest details. You can select cleaning options for both a small room and a small area by using a map. You can also select the number of robotic zone passes, suction power, mop wetting, and different cleaning options for each room separately. In addition, virtual walls and restricted areas can be set on the map, keeping the robot away from these places.

During cleaning, you can adjust the frequency of rinsing the mop. You can choose to have the robot wash after each room if the area is too large, once every few rooms, or after a certain time interval. A bunch of settings are also available for the self-cleaning functions. For example, unloading garbage into a bag can be disabled. And as mentioned above, if the Roborock Dryer Module is installed, it also features its own set of extra settings. Simply put, there are plenty of things to customize the operation of the vacuum cleaner in the smallest details.

An important note: the unit indicates the cleaning speed without considering the time to return to the base for washing the mop and cleaning itself. If the report indicates 60 minutes, chances are the robot vacuum cleaner has needed more than that, up 90 minutes. It clearly depends on how often the vacuum cleaner must return to the base to wash the mop.

Let me mention that the self-cleaning function doesn’t work perfectly. Once the procedure is over, there may still be debris left in the container. Although this issue doesn’t interfere with cleaning, I believe the problem will be addressed and corrected in the future.

Pros

• High cleaning standards.
• Lots of cleaning options.
• Automatic refueling of water.
• A module is available for the connection to utility networks.

Cons

• The self-cleaning function doesn’t work perfectly and leaves a bit of debris in the container.

Conclusion

There are practically no shortcomings in the Roborock S7 MaxV Ultra design and operation. The most obvious issue is associated with its self-cleaning features, but there is no doubt that developers are currently working on it. Other problems can be fixed with the Roborock Dryer Module and water connections. Most buyers go for these extras in order to ensure the most advanced technologies for robot cleaning. Some may say that it’s more expensive than its competition, but that’s perfectly normal. Like for everything else in life, a cheap product is a waste of money that won’t provide the desired results, while high quality will never come free.
