Vacmaster VK811PH Review – Pros and Cons

By | 11.07.2020

Vacmaster VK811PH is one of our favorites because it is a vacuuming master! When it comes to specifications of a vacuum cleaner there are only a few things to consider, and the Vacmaster VK811PH hits them all out of the park. But when it comes to basic routine cleaning around the house, is this the right model for you to invest in?

Mobility

Just like most models in the market, the Vacmaster VK811PH is a canister vacuum. This means it has a standalone body with a long cord attached to the suction wand so you are not restricted to handling the whole body at once, unlike stick and upright vacuums. With canister types the body has wheels so it follows along behind you, as you use the mobility of the cord to get into all those small nooks and crannies, and even those high places your arms wouldn’t normally be able to reach.

The Vacmaster VK811PH takes this all a step further by making sure the cord is 30ft long and the hose is 10ft long. Yes, you heard me right, that is 30ft of unlimited movement, so you can just fix the body to one switch and forget about constantly changing power outlets as you move around the house. The 10ft hose length definitely gives you that extra flexibility to reach the high corners of the drapes and all the tight corners underneath furniture.

While we are still on the topic of mobility, how can we move on without discussing wheels? The Vacmaster VK811PH is equipped with two of the finest that can manage a full 360◦ rotation, which give you high maneuverability in tight spots. And the two large wheels at the back are perfect for indoor cleaning, as they make it easier for the body to move across a carpet or over cords.

Capacity

These wheels and extra mobility features seem even more fantastic when you consider that this Vacmaster VK811PH is a one of a kind model with an 8 gallon capacity. Now you may be used to seeing 16 gallon vacuums as well, but let me explain that is definitely an overkill. Remember when we are vacuuming we are not collecting large solids, but instead dust particles of a size close to 0.3 microns. An 8 gallon capacity can last you weeks before it fills to the brim and you have to empty out the dust bag, of course we do recommend emptying out your vacuum at least once a week to keep your device in optimum operating position.

While an 8 gallon capacity is definitely greater for users like me who like to put off the difficult chore of emptying out the dust bag, it can be a bit heavy as well. The body is large and requires considerable strength to lift and move around.

Additional Features

HEPA Filter

The Vacmaster VK811PH is equipped with a HEPA filter which is great because it makes sure your air is extra clean when you breathe in. Using a HEPA filter ensures that it will remove 99.7% of particles down to 0.3 microns size. This is great for people who have dust allergies because it will remove even the finest dust particles from your space.

It is important to remember that the HEPA filter needs to be changed out every 5 years. Of course this is entirely dependent on your individual living conditions, and the air quality in your area. We recommend a consultation with the company to know exactly how often you need to change out the filter.

Specialized Use

As we have mentioned before often vacuums can be used for specialized use. Similarly the Vacmaster VK811PH is ideal for sander’s workshop and is great for getting rid of that excess sand and sawdust. However it is multi-purpose and can be used for asbestos, ash and carpet cleaning as well. While all of these functions are possible we don’t recommend using this wet-dry vacuum exclusively and daily for these activities, you may end up harming the device.

If you intend to use a vacuum for a specific specialized use then we recommend contacting the company first. Read the instructions and consult their support team if the device you have purchased has the ability to work in the environment. Especially when it comes to asbestos, cleaning them up can be harmful to the vacuum so we recommend careful analysis before putting it to the test.

Storage

Of course all that extra hose length does make it a bit difficult to stash the vacuum away when you are done cleaning. Weirdly enough this model is equipped with a cord management system so you can easily wind the cord safely behind the body, but there is not hose management system and you will end up having to stuff it into the closet, and it will feel like a snake is attacking you every time you open the doors.

Warranty

No one wants to invest heavily in a product and have it break down after the first use. This is why we always recommend buying products with a warranty. Not only do warranties ensure that you will get free maintenance or replacement within the time frame, it also shows that the company believes their product is a high quality item that will stand the test of time. The Vacmaster VK811PH has a warranty period of 1 year.

Pros:

● 30ft Cord for extra mobility
● Can be used with sawdust
● 1 year warranty
● Not loud

Cons:

● Difficult to store
● Not suitable for routine carpet cleaning

Verdict

The Vacmaster VK811PH is great for use in a wood workshop. Of course you can use it for the floors in your house, especially if you have any dust allergies this will definitely keep you safe. But if you have a lot of carpets in your home, we would recommend buying a separate carpet accessory with this vacuum because the default suction device is sure to get damage after daily use.
